I was watching a little Mike and Mike this morning (I don't pretend like I have credibility anyway) and Peter Gammons brought up an interesting tidbit. Gammons pondered a situation where the Detroit Tigers could be out of the playoff hunt and looking to shed money by the trade deadline. Then he mentioned Miguel Cabrera being a possible salary dump candidate and, of course, the Red Sox being a likely trade partner. The Red Sox are an obvious landing spot since they have the cash and minor league talent to make a mega deal. But, I'll throw this one out. The Angels took a run at Cabrera when the Marlins were looking to move the young All Star. The strapped-for-power Angels have Vlad Guerrero in the last year of his contract and Guerrero is already looking at a possible trip to the DL.
Some people will say "wishful thinking, Angels fan", and to that I say "you're a dick Boston".
Through nine games, the 25-yea-old Miguel Cabrera is hitting .486/.538/.886 with 4 home runs. (thanks Baseball-Reference!)
