Full (Atlanta) Steam Ahead

I'm not sure if there is a greater viewing pleasure than a day of watching footballs bounce off the boobs and faces a scantily clad women. The Atlanta Steam, of the Lingerie Football League, held their first round of tryouts on Saturday and I stopped by for research purposes. The tryouts were moved from an elementary school to an indoor soccer facility. For many surprised fathers, it was the best day of their kids' soccer practice they had ever attended. Around 60 girls showed up, but it was well short of the 200 they had expected. I was also a little disappointed at the lack of, oh let's say quality. I tried to do some stripper watching recruiting at the Cheetah but couldn't find any takers. I'm pretty sure I can write that off as a business expense, though.

The facility had an infill turf field, which is not that forgiving. That did not bode well for our ladies when it came time for backpedaling drills. Girls never seem prepared to run backwards whether it's for sports or just after too many shots in downtown Athens. Either way, the results are generally hilarious. So they start the tryouts by having the girls run a couple of laps and do some brief stretching. Somehow my camera man missed all of the stretching and has since been let go. Then they split the girls into groups and ran some short passing drills. Actually, most of the tryouts were just short passing drills. They ran a couple of longer passing plays, but not many of those ended up being completed. The quarterback competition involved each girl throwing one pass. They must have had some amazing scouts to find a good quarterback after one pass. Not that it will matter, because most of the really hot girls had hands like Braylon Edwards. They finished the thing off with some agility drills including a lot of the aforementioned backpedaling. Somehow, this gave them enough to do some rounds of cuts. The girls that made the team debuted at the launch party. Sadly, it was an event I could not cover due to Christmas party obligations.Actually, I think the blond in the middle will be the quarterback. She had a cannon, relatively speaking.After looking at the pictures though, I'm not surprised by the girls that made the team. They had the most "talent" and didn't embarrass themselves running around either. There will be another round of tryouts in March. I should be better equipped to cover those. We will try to score some interviews and cover some of the promotional events. Until then, enjoy...
